Back to School

....from the Reverend:

School cannot teach you morals - it can only impart facts.

Going back to school to learn "how to do" mustn't be confused with discovering "why to do".

(Pastor Andrew confesses he never liked school...)

Created Equal, Not the Same

This weeks topic, by Rev. Andrew J Paton:

One of life's fundamental truths is that we are created EQUAL.

From fetus to the infirmary we are of equal value, yet created equal is not to say that we are created the same.

Air Force Academy investigates "advocating religion"

A noted skeptic once told Christian leaders: "If I believed, as you say you do, that humanity's personal wickedness leads to eternal punishment and that a loving God has provided a way to escape that, I'd be willing to crawl through fire for miles to convey such good news."

In God We Trust

Rev. Paton tackles a growing concern in

America - Out From Under God

"Tony Perkins, Family Research Council calls Durbin the Senate "attack dog" on faith. To Durbin, it is inappropriate to let your faith inform your conscience if you are a believing, practicing Christian.

Be careful Sen. Durbin - you are on thin ice here.

We don't want Supreme Court nominees to pass a religious test. Faith or no faith is not the point. Just like in the debate over teaching the origins of life we want equality of access to national office."

Deadly Mesothelioma

Do you readily recognize the word mesothelioma? Some unlucky residents of a small town in Italy now know what mesothelioma means as well.

If you are from the Northeast, you probably associate the word mesothelioma with asbestos victims and the old Johns Manville Corporation. Employees used to describe the dust level they worked in to be tantamount to "a pick-up truck on a dirt road", claiming there "was dust all over that building".

I started working there when I was very young. I realized later, how fortunate I was that I quit after only a few weeks. Others weren't so lucky.

An update on where the deadly disease of mesothelioma is making a new appearance.

Life Makes You

This week's article:

Life isn't necessarily about prolonged happiness. A good life is when you've grown in character. If your life started out rough - take courage better things can be up ahead.

Stop dwelling on a poor start.

A Life Tempered by Trials by Rev. Andrew Paton.
